Inside the ?ABC building

It was nearly the wee hours of the morning on a warm summers night some two years ago. Geared with a recent hand-me-down camera and tripod, I was determined to do some urban exploring and photography to reward myself for having ploughed through the long festive Christmas season at work.

I was also very weather appropriately clad in short shorts and flip flops. In fact, so appropriately dressed that when I got caught by a security guard whilst trying to get into another building, he thought I was a lost tourist. Didn't even have to pull a dodgy Asian accent!

No, I do not endorse one to go urban exploring in shorts and flip flops especially in the light of all the health and safety bullshit one gets bombarded with these days. I also do not endorse going into abandoned buildings for that matter as we all know there's an atrocious word that starts with the letter T.

Um, what? :3

Pudu Prison, Kuala Lumpur

Constructed some 120 years ago, this prison watched the city of KL grew.

From the British colonial days to the Japanese invasion during World War II to the independence and explosive growth of the city.

Now only memories remain. The prison has been completely demolished in order to pave way for new development - at the expense of our past.

Abandoned farm house, South Australia

Essentially in the middle of fucking no where. First of all, it is in South Australia. Secondly, it's a good 3-hour drive from Adelaide.

Not a bad place to have a slumber party actually.

Abandoned UTeM Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Malacca

One does not simply expect to stumble upon an abandoned building while sight-seeing in the bustling heart of a city. In this case, Melaka, one of the most touristy destinations in Malaysia.

As I was casually walking down a flight of stairs, my gaze caught the sight of a tall white door, somewhat grubby and unlocked. Oh so inviting! What could that door hold behind it?

An abandoned university faculty of course.
